Ford Modular V-8 Ford calls VVT variable camshaft timing (VCT). It's available on SOHC (single overhead cam) modular engines with three-valve (3V) heads. The first use was on an '03 SOHC 3VIt’s called a “mini-me” swap. To complete the installation, it is necessary to wire up the vtec as well as the head, the ECU, and the vtec solenoid. However, there is no direct replacement for VTEC in a non-VTEC. As a result, the engine’s power and performance will be limited compared to those of a VTEC engine.
For the engine to gain HP AT the point of vtec actuation the dyno graph would have to have a vertical line at that rpm. No dyno is going to show this. Take a look at this dyno chart provided by ComptechUSA. At vtec actuation, the line HP "acceleration" becomes steeper but does not go vertical thus there is no instantaneous HP gain of anywhere
Keeping up the tradition of bringing exclusive content for readers, this time too, we have brought an educational video to let you guys know how a Vtec engin
This works with the K20a3, K24a1, K24a4 and K24a8 engines with the non I rundown the different options for rockers with a Vtec Killer cam setup on my K24a1. This works with the K20a3, K24a1
The VVT system is a 2-stage hydraulically controlled cam phasing system. VVT-i varies the timing of the intake valves by adjusting the relationship between the camshaft drive (belt or chain) and intake camshaft. Engine oil pressure is applied to an actuator to adjust the camshaft position. Adjustments in the overlap time between the exhaust
