Yep, you can keybind each mount, I use the num pad on hey keyboard that usually goes without use: 1 raptor, 2 springer, 3 skimmer, etc. It saves you a lot of time if you're going to switch mounts several times.

When has Anet EVER fixed PvE bugs? 90% of the overhangs don't actually work or register in-game as overhangs, and there are numerous areas where once you are off mount, you won't be able to summon it - notably the Jackal mount area of Yahnur Plateau Vista.

You can get on and off a skimmer anywhere whereas the skiff limits you where you can get on and off and the anchor adds another step that seems unnecessary. I do find that the skiff is usable for "water take offs" with my skyscale.
You are not getting what OP asks here. They are not asking for automatic mounting, but to automatically change the mount that would be used based on context regardless of the currently selected mount in the mount skill slot.So using the mount skill on the surface of water would always mount skimmer, and using the mount skill while falling in the air would mount griffon, without having to use

I appreciate the movement speed buff for skimmer on water, but it highlights even more how painfully slow it is on land. Considering skimmer gives little to zero advantage on land compared with other mounts, is there any harm in increasing the land movement speed to be useable, for those of us who prefer this one mount for aesthetic reasons rather than constantly swapping between all the mounts?
I don't necessarily need the mount to default to skimmer in water, but I love the suggestion to make it usable underwater. It feels really clunky as it stands because unless you're 100% on the surface, you can't mount! It could be more seamless and faster underwater movement wouldn't be a bad thing either.
